Native American Flute Man


Noted Native American Flute Player Joseph Firecrow will present a lecture/demonstration at the Aquinnah Cultural Center and a solo concert at the Aquinnah Town Hall (see details above), produced by Wendy Taucher Dance Opera Theater with the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head Aquinnah & the Aquinnah Cultural Center.  A celebrated musician and historian, Joseph has won many NAMAs (Native American Music Awards) and GRAMMYs.  Noted as an expert in the Native American music scene, supplemented by his work in film and symphonic concert halls, Joseph brings a sincere and comprehensive knowledge to his work.  A master flute maker, he travels the world as an artistic ambassador, making music and creating flutes.  An acknowledged expert in the repertory of his chosen instrument and world music, Joseph has written and performed music for Ken Burns’ documentary films and composed a commissioned work for the Cape Cod Symphony.   The lecture/demonstration will concentrate on the historical context of Native American music, with short musical examples.  The solo concert will be an hour and one half ethereal, brilliantly played music.
